AN ELEGY TO THOUGHT

In a world full of lies

Full of hatred and broken ties

I sing along with my heart’s lament

At the grave of my only friend

Fangs are revealed by the night

The weakness of the morning light

The moments I have come to resent

Is this world nearing its end?

A toast in the honor of the living dead

Corpses removed from their eternal bed

And for a message solemnly sent

I cry for an ear none will lend

I beg to the one entrusted with the power

Breathe some life lest the earth devour

Shells with no oceans to vent

Actions forsaken and unable to mend

Here lies an honest friend

Betrayed all the way to the end

A Price tag for tears never spent

Woe is me, for myself I fend
