Hey Brandon! I’m just getting back in to comics. I only ever picked up your stuff but was wondering what you recommend? I can’t stand mainstream superhero stuff I’ve always been more in to indie books.

There’s lots of great stuff out there–If you’ve read much of what I’ve typed online you’ve most likely seen me talk about some of the work that’s closest to me– but if you haven’t read them, these are some of the books that anyone who likes what I do should love.

James Stokoe has some great books out, ORC STAIN, WON TON SOUP his recent ALIENS series and an amazing Godzilla book he did that spans over 5 or 6 decades of a man’s life.

The amazing Farel Dalrymple has a new series on shelves called PROXIMA CENTARI that I loooveee also his POP GUN WAR series has 2 trades. I’d recommend his book WRENCHIES as a great place to start

Also SIMON ROY who I’ve collaborated with lots (mostly on Prophet) has some great books. his pre-historic shaman story, TIGER LUNG and his distant future cannibal book HABITAT

Matt Sheean and Malachi Ward each have great books of their own but ANCESTOR –is a great place to start with them

Marian Churchland’s BEAST. A modern retelling of Beauty and the beast (and she has a new book on the way)

Moebius Edena – a new printing of some of my favorite work by one of the artists whose work influenced me the most.

Sabertooth swordsman by

Damon Gentry and Aaron Conley- fun fantasy stuff

Paul Pope Heavy Liquid, Pope is another big influence on my work. and HL is one of his best.

I’m sure I’m forgetting lots but these are a few of my go to recommendations that are some of the best comics I know of.
