Being Alone Does Not Mean Being Lonely

One of the hardest things about going through a break-up is being alone. After months or years with someone, it can feel like your life has a gaping hole in it. But being alone does not mean you’re lonely. Or that you should be.

Phone a Friend

When was the last time you had a girls’ night? Or went out with a friend? Or caught up with someone you haven’t seen in a while? Call someone!

We all have those moments when the silence closes in around us. Don’t sit and let it engulf you, call a friend. Get a manicure, go to a movie, or meet for a drink. Remind yourself what life was like before your relationship. Yeah, I know, that isn’t always what you want to think about, but it helps to remember that you had a life before, and you’ll have a life after. Your friends will help you remember that!

Have a Dance Party

Did you ever see Grey’s Anatomy? Whenever Meredith and Christina have a rough time, they dance it out. It sounds ridiculous, but you’d be surprised how cathartic it can be.

Turn up the music and throw a dance party. Invite friends over if you want to, but sometimes it’s nice to just let loose, crank the music, and have a dance party for one.

Make a New Friend

If all your old friends remind you of your ex, maybe it’s time to make a new friend. Go someplace new, try out a different activity, or call someone you don’t know very well. There are plenty of people out there that could be good friends of yours, but you’ll never know unless you give it a try.

And if you’re really lucky, that new friend could introduce you someone that makes you forget all about being alone!

How do you combat loneliness?

Fake It Till You Break ItCan you fall in love with a broken heart?

She told him they could be friends. She believed it, too. Right up until he kissed her. Sure he was saving her from another guy, but his kiss set her on fire. After that friends was off the table, and her heart was on it.
