Goals: August 2018
July has been… a struggle. I’ll just put it bluntly. I have not been on top of my projects like I’d hoped to be. But, in the spirit of complete disclosure, I’m checking in at my goal-station to let you know just how badly I’ve slipped this month.
My goals for July were:
Final proofs and formatting for The Eighth Octave with a tentative publishing date of August 1st.
Excuse me while I laugh out loud for a while at how bright-eyed and delusional I was last month. Don’t worry; I’ve since had a head-on collision with reality, and must admit: The Eighth Octave needs a few more months. I did spend a good portion of July reading through it again in an attempt to make final tweaks and prep it for formatting. As it turns out, that final read-through revealed quite a few massive plot holes that somehow escaped my notice. So… before I threw the manuscript into the fireplace to BURN FOREVER… I calmly decided to postpone the publishing date until further notice, and get that thing off my laptop by hiding it neatly behind several other projects.
Start Indigo Elements Book 2 Wind Winging revisions
Check! I’ve read through this in the last two weeks just to reorient myself to the story, and can I just say how much fun it is to get back into my little world of Arcana? I’ve missed it since the release of River Running. I’m excited to flesh out Susannah Zephyr and Alexander Stone, and I hope you’re getting excited to read about them. At this point, it looks like Wind Winging may possibly be on the market before The Eighth Octave. We’ll see.
Finish The Seventh Symphony conclusion rewrite
Hahaha. Nope. I don’t think I even touched it. I had turned my attention to The Eighth Octave, which, per my comments above, was a notorious failure, so The Seventh Symphony rested for the month on its drooping laurels, and I’ll have to get to it later. Llllaaaattterrr.
Book Review: Cruel Beauty and Crimson Bound
Check! I posted it. It was a little different than my normal book review. This was more of a comparison between two books. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, you can do that here.
Blog post
A big, fat zero there, too. Time got away from me, and this did not get done. There are some big things happening for me at the moment outside my writing life, and sometimes, you just need to let the blog post go.
