Is Your Dad or Mom For a Boss a Good Idea?

The term is nepotism. You keep it in the family, working for your dad or mom as the boss. A case in point. Mike Shanahan is the head coach of the Washington Redskin. He hired his 31-year-old son Kyle to be the offensive coordinator. Well, things haven't gone so well for the Redskins.

I'm not getting into all the ins and outs about the Redskins' chances this season. This isn't about sports. I just know I couldn't do well at a job with my parents being the boss. It just wouldn't be a good fit for me or them. We'd be at each other's throat, so to speak. On the other hand, I can envision lots of conflict arising from such an arrangement. It could easily work out as the plot for a novel.

I've been sitting here and racking my brain for famous examples. FFK & JFK is the only other one I can recall. There must be more. Help me out. Wasn't Dick Van Dyke's son on the popular TV show Diagnosis Murder? I guess sometimes it does work out well.
