I finished Volume 1 of
Free Men and Dreamers, Dark Sky at Dawn
, by L.C. Lewis a few days ago. Now I'm moving from the War of 1812 back to the distant mists of the days of King Arthur with the Young Adult novel,
Here Lies Arthur
, by Philip Reeve. Timeline-wise, this story follows on the heels of the events in
The Lantern Bearers
, by Rosemary Sutcliff. Although a different author, a different voice, and therefore, a different slant to the story, I'm excited about reading
Here Lies Arthur
!
Here's the back cover blurb:
Gwyna is just a small girl, a mouse, when she is bound in service to Myrddin the bard - a traveller and spinner of tales. But Myrdin transfroms her - into a lady goddess, a boy warrior, and a spy. Without Gwyna, Myrddin will not be able to work the most glorious transformation of all - and turn the leader of a raggle-tagglear-band into King Arthur, the greatest hero of all time.(In case you're wondering, this is not a fantasy. Gwyna is not a real mouse. :-) )
Stop by next Tuesday and I'll share with you a Tuesday Teaser from
Here Lies Arthur
.
