Denzel Washington reprises his role as Robert McCall. This time, he no longer works at the home improvement store; he’s a driver for Lyft. The story opens not at his home in the U.S.A. but on a train in Turkey. There, he confronts a man who has stolen his daughter from his wife and moved back to Turkey where he’s originally from. The daughter is mysteriously returned to the U.S. and to her mother. McCall is satisfied with doing odd jobs like this for people, many of whom he doesn’t know personally.
However, Susan, his former boss at the CIA, stops by to offer him a job before she flies off to Belgium to investigate a murder of a CIA asset. He refuses but learns a short time later that Susan has been murdered during a robbery. McCall doesn’t buy the robbery angle and begins his own investigation. The result is a surprise.
I liked this movie and the character of McCall. Denzel Washington does a FINE job in this role. He is a sympathetic and compassionate character with a tough shell.
What I also liked about this movie were the commercials searching the NBA for the new star for this movie. They were hilarious. Denzel was the best choice.
