Cornish Summer Memories from Carol Thomas
To celebrate the paperback publication of One Cornish Summer Carol Thomas tells us about her Cornish holiday…
In the early 2000s, my husband raced Zapcat powerboats with a friend. As a result, we got to follow him around the country having lots of lovely beach holidays. One of our favourite destinations was Watergate Bay, in Cornwall. With a good stretch of sand to play on with our then two-year-old daughter, rugged cliffs and dramatic coastal landscape; it was an ideal setting for a holiday, as well as the racing.
The surf was frequently as dramatic as the landscape with waves reaching ten foot and beyond. As the photographs show, the racing didn’t always go to plan. That’s my husband upside down having come out of the boat! Luckily, he was unharmed, but it certainly made our 2006 trip a holiday to remember.
Carol’s latest book…
Introducing Lisa Blake, the purrfect pet sitter!
When Lisa Blake’s life in London falls apart, she returns to her hometown rebranding herself as ‘the purrfect pet sitter’ – which may or may not be false advertising!
But being back where she grew up, Lisa can’t escape her past. There’s her estranged best friend Flick who she bumps into in an embarrassing encounter in a local supermarket. And her first love, Nathan Baker, who, considering their history, is sure to be even more surprised by her drunken Facebook friend request than Lisa is.
As she becomes involved in the lives of her old friends Lisa must confront the hurt she has caused, discover the truth about her mysterious leather-clad admirer, and learn how to move forward when the things she wants most are affected by the decisions of her past.
