Do very close friendships or romance play a large part in your story? What is/are your primary relationship(s)? Why do these characters work well together, and what struggles might they need to overcome in order to grow closer?
#TIGER has three relationships that are really important in illustrating essentially the same exact theme: Think for your damn self for once! And don’t be a follower. Essentially.
1) Chloe and her childhood best friend Emily. Emily is this popular, fun, and confident girl, and she has so much personality she often overrides Chloe. Chloe lets her, and essentially isn’t much of a person without Emily.
2) Chloe falls in lust with a guy she doesn’t even know named Ayden. Ayden prey’s on Chloe, using her blind admiration for him as a way to trick her into signing her life away to a government organization she knows nothing about.
3) And lastly, Eric. Eric is an all around great guy who’s been through a lot but has given up his own life to make sure his little sister has a good one. Chloe and Eric would have a lovely, healthy, prosperous relationship, except there are a number of things about Eric that make him an embarrassment (social class, young parental figure, no college education) so Chloe listens to outside influences that tell her not to go past friendship with Eric.
So, friendship and romance are essential to the plot, but nooooot exactly in the way you would expect :)
