The rescue
All over the world, people are praying for a miracle for those trapped boys in Thailand. We did get one miracle when four of the kids were safely taken out, but more miracles will be needed. I have so much admiration for those volunteer divers, am awed by their courage. See the link below for one of the latest updates about the rescue.
On a personal note, I would like to thank all of my Facebook friends and readers for being so understanding about my disappearances over the past few months. I have never worked so hard to complete a book as I did on this one, in part because my health “issues” continue to slow me down and sabotage schedules, etc. It probably didn’t help, either, that LBS (as one of my friends has dubbed it) is one of my longer efforts—742 pages. I am so lucky that you guys love long books!
Now that the manuscript has gone off to my editors in the US and UK, I will be able to rejoin the real world and start posting on Facebook again. I may even be able to revive my moribund blog, assuming that I can scrape all the cobwebs off. Thanks again for your patience. I have the world’s best readers, bar none.

I am afraid not, Iset. There is so much still to do on the book, the Author's Note and Acknowledgements and Afterword and then my responses to the editing and the copy editor's queries. In the meantime, I am trying to catch up on all I let fall by the wayside when I was living in the twelfth century.
I absolutely love your books Sharon and cannot wait for LBS. I'll wait patiently through any disappearance if it means another great book. 742 pages? YES!
You're one of my favorite authors and I will happily wait for anything you produce. You were my first introduction into true historical fiction and I don't know of anyone that has surpassed you in research and writing skills. Thank you!

Sharon, I discovered your novels several years ago and "binge" read to my heart’s content. You do so much more than provide us well researched history lessons; you breathe life into the long dead, and captivate us with their stories. I also love the addition of your fictional characters. Although history fascinates me, I find myself unable to read "dry" accounts, so I’m always thrilled to discover an author of your caliber. I reread your books a few years ago, and found them to be every bit as enjoyable the second time around. I am so pleased that you’ve been able to finish your new novel, despite your ongoing, debilitating physical issues. Sending positive, healing thoughts your way.
Thank you so much, Ronda. Writers feel blessed to get feedback like yours, for the one drawback of our profession is that it is so solitary. And because it is also so subjective, we all have days when were are convinced we could not write a shopping list, much less another novel. On those days, comments like yours can act as a lifeline!
I'm not exactly familiar with the figures of Land Beyond the Sea, but I look forward to immersing myself in your vivid & exciting painting of its characters and 'Outremer' itself. You always have me scouring the internet/library for more information on these figures after I've read through, an effect I'm grateful for.
I look forward to your compelling characterizations of these larger than life historical figures, especially the iconic Saladin.
