So Amazon sent me an interesting E-mail

Apparently someone has been trying to either use my titles to manipulate or either steal them from the Amazon/KDP. Which may have resulted in improper reads and sales.

This makes me...nervous for obvious reasons. One being how many of my reads/sales are proper and from people who actually enjoy my work?

Last month was amazing, but I just found out 1/4 of those sales were false and it is devastating. Even this month has been pretty good, but I don't know if those reads/sales are real anymore.

Please, if anyone is actually doing this, don't. Even if you think you are helping the author you just making them look shady on top of giving them messed up expectations.

Instead of the $300+ I thought I was getting, it is closer to $260, if that.

Helen Arlet I hate to see this happening to you. I like your stories. But this is something new I've never heard of. Can you give a little more detail on exactly how they are doing this? It's something I'll have to watch out for. With all the shady stuff that's been going on in the industry lately all us authors need to be keeping our eyes peeled for this kind of b/s.

Amazon said they can't tell us how they are tracking it, but they have deleted the accounts. It still freaks me out since I don't know if this month has been good because it's just been good so far or if it's more scammers.

You can usually tell something is up if you get a bunch of reads on a book in a series, that doesn't seem to mach the previous ones from that month.

The worst thing about it, is that you probably won't know until sometime next month.
