The characters of The First Two Companions
I have been asked, why there are so many characters in my book? The answer is simple. There are 15 main characters in the book and about 25 sub-characters. I know that is a lot of Characters. That is the story.
The plot is complex and everything is connected. The characters are all moving towards one event that must happen or not, all depending on the choices of the 15 characters in relation to the 25 plus sub-characters. It is one big story about people. The intrigue revolves around peoples choices and decisions.
This story is like this because I often think about the choices we make and the lives we lead in relation to the people we interact. How our choices have an effect on others and their choices and the way they see the world.

A question that I am often asked about the plot is; why you jump around so much? The story appears like it goes nowhere.
The story is about 15 lives. It is not about June or Opal. The story is about the 15 that must assemble to make several decisions that may or may not end up with an Assembly, Two of those must watch and help and maybe even make a sacrifice or two. Life is complicated. how many people one person meets in a lifetime? How many of those lives are connected. Some say that we are all connected by only six degrees of separation.
I explore those ideas of connections between lives and decisions. That spiritual component of faith versus living by one's own idea of right and wrong. Can right be only so by what society perceive as correct? I can only try to answer these questions and many will say that I am an amateur or naive in my perspective of the world, but it is one perspective, not necessarily mine.
