I completely agree! I've found severl great authors by selecting books that are often considered "not as popular". If I had passed them up, I would miss out on great books (like Meeting Destiny! Had to plug it! haha).

Thanks for the plug! It's true though, Shelly Crane is an extremely successful indie author, yet she took the time to write me a huge email a week ago giving advice and even asking her fans to go to my FB page and show me some love. Susan Firtik took time out from her own writing to read my book and wrote an awesome review. And you, Charles, are the best motivation any author could ever ask for! I feel pretty lucky and just wish more people were as willing to take chances!
It's so true. Writers today are far more reachable and love to hear from readers. (I've even experienced this with some traditional writers, believe it or not!) Independent authors do love to help, support, interact and write. And there are some fabulous works out there that we'd never have access to if it wasn't for them taking a chance and publishing it.
