Once I read a book where a girl was a popular web author under a fake name and she sometimes saw fans in public with merch of her work and she’s talk to them but never tell them it was her and it frustrated me so bad bc I was like I thought that’d be so fun why WOULDNT you tell them

But now I understand that there is something truly bone chilling in the moment someone you work with says “look at this” and you see your own words in front of you, a hideous reflection of how much time you’ve dedicated to typing absolute nonsense for other ppl to consume.
