Dealing with edits can be a learning experience. It’s always fun to find out something new, and I’m not talking about rules of grammar (although that’s a good thing, too).
A good editor should know something about the subject matter of a book, although it’s impossible to know everything. However, if you write books where characters use firearms, it’s nice to have an editor who knows a Glock doesn’t have an external safety. Or, in one case, that a Glock is a firearm.
