I See Reality anthology. They asked me to write something about real issues teens face. The first thing that came to mind was my abusive high school relationship. I wrote the story for the young person that needed to read it, who needed to stay well away from a potential bad romance, or find the courage to get out of one they're already in. I had NO idea that this would lead to a full novel. And I had no idea I could write a novel not for myself, but solely for my readers.
