DudePa Notes

YoGoodreads Peeps ... I am new to this and have absolutely no idea what I am doing.
I'm going to go with DudePa Notes because my name is Andy Smith so when I signed up for this, goodreads listed 7+ pages of books by Andy Smith on my profile page! YIKES! Well, thanks, goodreads, but I really hate taking credit for so many books when all I have right now is the one - It's Positively Cancer.... a daughter's blog, a dad's farewell. Since my grandkiddos call me DudePa, I'll go with that until I see 7+ pages of books by some guy named DudePa!
I retired in 2010 from the music business here in Nashville, TN. In early 2012, my oldest daughter, Tracy, discovered she had cancer. That changed everything as far as my retirement goes. She passed away on December 15, 2013 and to be honest, I had no desire to write another word.
My name was synonymous with light-hearted comedy during my career... be it a column, article, songs, plays or books... if it was by Andy Smith, you knew it was something you could sit back with a cup of coffee and enjoy.
Obviously, when my daughter passed away, the writing sail lost it's air and I was simply adrift in a sea of sadness.... I didn't WANT to write ... I didn't CARE ... I lost my daughter and my best friend.
But the itch came back. I refused to let my daughter become simply a young mother who died from breast cancer too young. That was NOT her story, so I decided to use my talents as a writer to honor my daughter and tell her story.... It's Positively Cancer is a good story that I encourage you to read.
After I published my daughter's story, I felt bad because I made so many people cry. That's new territory for this guy. I was use to making publishers cry, but not my friends. But it was a story that needed to be told, so I make no apologies.
That being said, I felt compelled to make it up to my following of six people and follow-up with a 100% Andy Smith story to get people smiling again. I dusted off a book I had published earlier, My First 7Days In Heaven, and recreated the story, adding some additional 'days' to Heaven and generally wrote my way out of this grieving funk I was in.
So now I have My First Seven Days in Heaven, and More ready for you on June 1st. It was great therapy for me, but I know it's going to be a great story for any of you who are in a book club - read this book, grab a couple bottles of wine and sit around sharing what your best day in Heaven would be! Fun, fun, fun... that's ticket! Two books that are very different, but very much from the same heart.
I like it....
