By Demons Possessed has gone to the publisher.  What a tricky story it turned out to be.  I'm glad to have it off my hands, and hope that it makes better reading than it did writing.

Since then, I've been thinking about the next novel, which may be the last in the series.  I'd rather it was the next to last, but that depends on how complicated the plot gets, or rather on how long it takes to wrap things up.

I left Gerridon in a fix at the end of Demons.  No plot spoilers -- or not much -- but next he will be thinking seriously about reclaiming his role as Highlord of the Kencyrath to ensure his immortality.  Why that would work for him, though, puzzles me.  Highlords aren't immortal, at least these days.  Were they ever?  That feels like revisionist history.  Any other ideas?

Rstocks Could Gerridon have figured out a way to pull from the people bloodoathed to him? I know the Lords can influence their people, but could they also elongate their own lives by taking something from them? The witch was able to steal their names and make people forget they ever existed. Gerridon could go a step further. Just a thought.

Vilebunny If Gerridon bargains away souls to maintain life and is running in short supply, wouldn’t he be able to force the surrender of souls from his people if he were high lord again? Otherwise, they would forfeit their honor. Also, would any death banner be safe? Gerridon could tear the souls right out of them like those in his hall.

A leap forward. As high lord, could he regain control of the priests? If so, what of the unstable temples? Could he use Tai-tastigon as a immortality battery pack? What couldn’t he do if he were ruthless enough? I mean, one can presume he, too, is an aspect of the three faced god (Gerridon, Jamethiel, and Jame’s teacher [so sorry - can’t remembers his name right now] would have been a prior trio who were lead down the dark side of destruction) Could he usurp Jame’s place to try to renege on his deal and try to shut the gate?
