The surprising roots of inequality

I have suspected this for quite a while now. Inequality is actually driven (among other things, that is) by mechanisms we mostly consider to be forces of good: reciprocity and reputation. If you start in an unequal situation, which we all do, reciproticy and reputaion will increase that inequality. If you have two potential contractors and one of them is known to be just slightly better, the latter will get ALL the contracts, not just some of them.
