Book website

The website for Half Moon is gradually coming together.

Events are starting to be posted (a couple around NYC, Sept. 11-17). I've also posted several essays of interest to readers. Two of them, on who Henry Hudson was and the nature of his ship, the Half Moon, are adapted from the book. For readers more interested in the research process and the nature of the primary sources, I've posted two offerings. One discusses how small clues in the documentary record can yield big dividends. The other explains the nature and the evolution of the documentary record for Hudson's voyages. Some readers may find this a little "inside baseball," but these latter essays are intended to help readers learn more about the documents and their usage in writing historical non-fiction.
