Protecting chimpanzees and ending experimentation on these intelligent primates is an issue I deeply care about. Recently I blogged about chimps in captivity and the U.S. government-funded experiments done on them. Because of all the chimps used for entertainment and experimentation in the U.S. many people don't realize that they are an endangered species in the wild.
One way to help endangered chimps and end cruel experimentation on captive chimps in the U.S. is to ask the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list all chimps including those in captivity as endangered. The Humane Society of the United States along with other animal rights organizations has filed a petition to make this happen. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is now asking the public to comment on the issue so now is the time to speak up for chimps!
To help fill out this petition at The Humane Society and don't forget to personalize your letter. Let's do everything we can do give chimps better lives.
