As a librarian I know that reading aloud to children is necessary for their growth and development. I was a fan of MacFarlane's, "Landmarks," before this title came along and it's truly beautiful (got it at a good price on Ebay). Oversized, it may seem more like an arty coffee table book than your bedtime story, but it's more. It's an alphabet book in which the letters feature a bit of nature; a "bramble," a "lark," or a "weasel." The poetic lines allows you to get lost in the details of the gorgeous, earthy, illustrations. Just a great combination, and so beautiful. Fans of Richard Louv, and his title, Last Child in the Woods," will appreciate it.
