Balance, Power, Strength

FEAR can make a man do incredible things.--Charles Belfoure, THE PARIS ARCHITECT
Life is precious and it can be scary too.   I recall reading somewhere how we all have an inner strength that we keep hibernated.   We don’t use it until it’s necessary.  I guess I’m having these thoughts because when you have a near-death experience or a traumatic life experience it takes one to a new level if you survive it.
I experienced fearful trauma in my early 20s and I was reminded of the fear.  When one is almost drowning one’s life flashes before in snippets and you don’t really know if it’s the end.  This happened to be the day before my 21st Birthday.  We carry other stressors in life and it takes balance, power and strength to get through it.

I yearned for anything to be done that can be done when I had my appendicitis not so long ago.  My dear friend, Barbara, wrote about her recent struggle with survival.   To think it started the day after her Birthday, too.  Ouch!  She kept it brief without a lot of detail but I know how one feels.   When you don’t feel well all you can think about is getting better again:
15, April 1992Dear Michael,I guess you should know that I, too, am now without an appendix.  Unfortunately, I still have an infection from mine.
The trouble began on March 24th.   So I’m not sure when mine burst…but I had surgery on 4/6/92.  I’m still in ALTA BATES HOSPITAL.  My writing suffers from this subject.  How long did you take to recover from your removal?  At least I am on PAC BELL time and am on disability.  Last time was September 1986, so my time had come.
There’s not much else to say except I hope to get OUT soon!Love, BarbaraP.S. How is your NEW job?
Every individual is different and one can learn something from each one.--Fabiola Cabeza de Baca, WE FED THEM CACTUS
