Bob Honey. . .

I realize that this blog is supposed to be for novelists, but because Jane Smiley, of course, is a talented one, I suppose it's okay to include a Los Angeles Times article about her stage meeting with Sean Penn. In conversation with Penn, Smiley noted diplomatically, "A sense of humor is much more idiosyncratic than a sense of tragedy. . . making the comic novel a brave undertaking."
