Eureka & Terra Nova pilots: Sciencefail rant

You know what I really hate? Big budget productions with characters who are supposed to be geeky/nerdy/knowledgeable that say things that are wrong. When you have spent piles of money on special effects, isn't it in your best interests to make sure the dialogue isn't made of fail? As I'm sure you've probably guessed, this really annoys me.
