The Climb...
I love the Miley Cyrus song, The Climb. The lyrics can be applied to so many situations we face universally, and they are definitely inspirational. As I sing them, I think about, life, work, and my art. This Monday morning at work kicks off the start of a new software system we are implementing. As you can imagine, Murphy's Law kicks in and everything imaginable is not working properly.
Yet, I trust and believe Almighty God will work it out for our good. I stand back and check my attitude through the process. Will I be knowledgeable enough? Am I patient enough? Am I operating efficiently and is my communication clear and concise? Is my faith strong enough to pull me through the challenges, or will I gripe and moan? Above all I want to ensure that I do not become dragged down by the emotions of others.
The ironic part is that I have asked these same questions in my personal life. There will always be another battle to face, another obstacle in our way. The question is, how will we allow the fight during the battle or the energy exerted while moving the obstacle to define us? Will we whine and complain, or will we trust Almighty God to grow us?
No challenge is going to be easy, but if we allow it to our faith will grow stronger, our integrity and resolve will be strengthened, and our character will improve. Just allow Him to work through you, keep pushing ahead, and hold on to your dreams. No matter how hard, never give up, never rush the process, but take a look around while going through it. Ask Him, "Lord, what do you want me to learn?" Then be open to His answer.
Miley Cyrus' "The Climb" lyrics:
I can almost see it
That dream I'm dreaming, but
There's a voice inside my head saying
You'll never reach it
Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels lost, with no direction
My faith is shaken
But I, I got to keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna want to make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb
The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down, but
No, I'm not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just got to keep going
