Where I've Been and Where I Won't Be
Where I've Been
Apologies to friends, debt collectors and bedroom peepers if I haven't been around when you needed me. My lack of responses to posts etc. is all down to the fact that I spent the weekend at a brilliantly organized Octocon at the Camden Court Hotel here in Dublin. All hail the magnificent committee. Not only did everything run smoothly -- like melted chocolate! Like cream cheese!* -- but a dozen little touches, such as hint sheets for panel moderators etc., showed real dedication and attention to detail.
So yes, personally, I had a great time and loved meeting old friends and making new ones.
The audiences at this year's Octocon really kicked ass -- my ass on several occasions. A huge thanks to everybody who made the two days fly by. And

? If you're reading this, there's a particular photo, I'd just love to post ;p

Where I Won't Be
It looks like I'm not going to be invited to PCON as a guest this year.
Ireland is a small place with small cons, and in the past, it became sort of traditional that every writer on the island ended up haunting** every single event. This had the effect of diminishing the individuality of the various cons. This year, PCON's new management have decided to draw a line in sand and to have as little overlap as possible.
I can't say I won't be a little bit sad to be sitting on the other side of the of the hall, but I feel the decision is a good one and I wish PCON every success.
Where I Might Be
At Octocon I was interviewed by Pavel Barter of the Irish Edition of The Sunday Times Culture Section. There is a good chance I might get a mention there very shortly. They've even asked for cover images of The Inferior and shots of my own delightful visage. So, fingers crossed.
The Culture Section of The Sunday Times is a real institution in its own right and it would be wonderful to wind up somewhere between its covers.
Where I Aim to Be
WorldCon in Chicago, 2012. I've already signed up to do events in the Children's Program and hope to appear on a few panels too. Will I see you there?
What I've Cooked
Yesterday, I followed this recipe for stunningly delicious chickpea burgers. Even the savage Nork failed to complain of the lack of human ingredients. Recommended.
*Oh, how I miss you.
