Spring 2018 Update

The first two conventions of the season are over for me. ConDFW went well, although Charlaine Harris didn't make the event due to reportedly having emergency gall bladder surgery. I've been there and done that, so I totally understand the pain she was probably in. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to interview her or participate on a panel with her some other time and I wish her well.

At MidSouthCon I had the honor of being on a monster panel with award-winning editor Ellen Datlow. I am not a fanboy, but it was nice to be on a panel with Datlow and also author Jimmy Gillentine. Datlow is someone whose work I have read for over 30 years. She was also the editor to send me my first rejection when I sent a poorly formatted story in dire need of revisions to Omni magazine 30 years ago. I still have that rejection somewhere, and I feel it's my Red Badge of Courage in a way. My bucket list includes being in an anthology either by Datlow or Toni Weisskopf.

When I returned from MidsouthCon, I discovered that my local bookstore, Books & Stuf (Mena, AR), honored me as the Local Author for Local Author of the Week.

Meanwhile, The Undead Ate My Head and Of Monsters & Madmen are both still selling decently. My new novella The Savage Caged has been moving really well. Besides the online options to purchase, the above-mentioned Books & Stuf carries those titles. The books are also available at Dog Ear Books (Russellville, AR) and Chapters on Main (Van Buren, AR).

Stay tuned for a possible book signing appearance at Dog Ear Books in June.

I will also be conducting the third and final Creative Writing Class April 6 for Books & Stuf. See their FB Page for details. At the very least, go in and meet Hemingway. Just be aware that the furry little prankster likes to untie your shoes and chew on the laces.

More updates of upcoming book releases coming soon. Now, back to writing.
