Sweetness Follows: Personal Questions and Good Advice

Last night Sweetness asked that I wake her early for school. Makes total sense because when she completes her entire morning routine, she gets to use her tablet. So she deduced that early to rise means more screen time. Clever girl.

When she presents me with her tablet at 6:45 AM so that I can override the parental controls, I grill her on a few specifics. Did she brush her teeth? Is her backpack packed and ready to go? Did she eat breakfast?

Her reply, “Those are rather personal questions.”

And I get that inkling that something is a bit south. We resolve the teeth-brushing with her breathing in my face. Bubble gum fresh, check. Quick look in the backpack, check. For breakfast, I find an ice cream wrapper on the kitchen counter.

I point to the wrapper, “Was that your breakfast?”

Sweetness says, “How did you know?”

“Because if you’re gonna be sneaky, Little Girl, be all the way sneaky. Throw the wrapper away.”

She looks at me and says, “Good advice.”

Sweetness is my amazing nine-year-old daughter. Between her ADHD and Autism, things sometimes go a bit south. Before you give her any sympathy, be warned. She’s a clever girl, and always seems to have the last laugh at my expense. These are her adventures.

Live your life filled with joy and thunder.”
