More Monsters

Dedicated to all books dark and scary!

Monsters in the cupboards, monsters under beds,
With every passage read, more monsters in their heads,
Imaginary images, hiding in the dark,
Bloody claws and cleavers, a deadly night to mark!

What was that sound of rustling? Leathery demon wings?
The wind under the eaves, a Harpy evil sings!
Ancient, creaking floorboards, something’s drawing near,
Finds them in their beds, drenched in sweaty fear!

Madness in the pages, lunacy in verse,
Shadows in a dark room, for a death rehearse,
Fluttering and flittering, movement in the night,
Trapped inside their minds, with no escape or flight!

Toll the bells of Doom, dawn is far away,
Draw the covers closer, sleep has gone astray,
All around they’re crawling, creeping in your mind,
The vision’s got you trapped, fear has turned you blind!

Wondering Aloud.

Leon De Kock
Just some of the wonders I encounter while wandering through the thoughts I wonder about. Wonderful.
