Need hard shadows for video in low light conditions? Two of the most affordable options right here - Lowel's Pro Light & Omni Light, about $110 & $150 respectively. They are hot lights, ~3300k but for 200W & 500w - that price is hard to beat. I prefer LED panels for softer shadows, but every film maker should have a very hard & bright light in their lighting tool kit. You can always go from small to large light source using a bounce, much harder the other way around. The Pro light is smaller, Omni brighter and has a handle.
