Discover 10 amazing things to do in England. When I first began living a life of travel I lived and worked in England for 2 years. The first year was in the South (Oxford) and the and in the North (Newcastle). And in-between I got to see quite a bit of the country. Back then I wasn’t as serious about blogging as I am now, so I didn’t record my adventures very well. In any case, here are my 10 picks for things to do in England.

1. Visit the Universities
The first thing on this list of amazing things to do in England is to visit the universities. England has some of the most distinguished universities in the world. Not only are they very respected, the architecture is beautiful.

2. Stonehenge
Stonehenge is one of the ancient mysteries of the world. Noone knows 100% how it got there or what its purpose is.
I didn’t actually visit Stonehenge, but I remember spotting it as we drove past on the way to somewhere else.

3. Cotswolds
The Cotswolds is a picturesque rural area in the south-central region of England. I can’t recall if I actually went there or not. I imagine I at least passed through it while traveling around the south of England.

4. Canterbury Cathedral
There are many beautiful cathedrals in England. Canterbury Cathedral is one of the most famous. It is the Anglican mother church of the world! It is also a world heritage site.

5. Tower of London
Number 5 on this list of amazing things to in England is the Tower of London. I’ve been to London a few times but never did any sightseeing. If I ever go back this will be on my list of things to do.

6. Lizard Peninsula
The Lizard Peninsula appeals to me for its stunning views. I have never been there. It is the most southern point of the British mainland, in Cornwall.

7. Lake District National Park
Hiking in the Lake District was my most memorable experience in England. My intention was to climb Scafell Pike but instead I ended up doing a general day hike around the area.

8. Soho London
Soho is my favorite part of London. It is a good place for people watching, eating, and a night out.

9. Kielder Observatory
When I lived in Newcastle some random people invited me to go to Kielder Observatory. It was very good! There was a talk about the solar system and then we went out to start gaze.

10. Roman Baths
The last thing on this list of amazing things to do in England is to visit the Roman baths in Bath. I never went to the Roman baths but remember visiting Bath and being quite impressed.
