Deadlines, Word Counts, and Writing Goals

Everyone’s got their own definition of a “successful” writing day. Some go by the clock, some by a page count. Others, myself included, set a daily word count goal.

Regardless of your measure of success, finding the right goal can take some adjusting, and that’s not a bad thing. Goals should be flexible. Life happens, and sometimes we can’t meet our goals, but as long as you understand the reasons, you shouldn’t beat yourself up.
