What a privilege to attend one of the launch events for Points North, hosted by Thomas Christopher Greene at the Vermont College of Fine Arts and featuring readings from the book--and anecdotes about Howard--by Richard Russo, Chris Bohjalian, Garret Keizer, Don Bredes, and Jake Mosher.

I attended to their memories and to Howard's words and was reminded again of the power of stories: to entertain, to move, to recollect, to pass down, to connect us with each other, alone or in a crowd, as we listen together.

Points North is both the final book by and the perfect introduction to this essential American storyteller.
