Plot ideas

Would-be fiction writers often worry unduly about their storylines. They finish reading a novel and think to themselves, 'That was a great story, but how did the writer dream up the plot, the characters and the action? I could never do that.'

Yet, ideas for plots are all around you. At your workplace there are a wide range of characters. Every week there are problems, issues, challenges due to changing circumstances and the personnel involved. These stories from work, that you might relate to your partner or friends have the potential to be developed into a plot with a variety of contrasting or conflicting characters. Enlarge on the incidents and circumstances, add a backstory and some foibles to your characters, and you have the making of a first class plot.

Apply this idea to other experiences in your personal life and add enrich your plot ideas even further!
