The Weekly Rune – Algiz
Home Spirits and manifestation
Algiz is the half-month stave through 13 February. Perthro is the intuitive stave, and Ehwaz reversed indicates the planet's message to us. Read right to left is Algiz, Perthro, then Ehwaz reversed.

The half-month rune is set by the runic calendar, and governs for a tad over two weeks (a fortnight). The intuitive stave (meaning, I draw it blind) indicates the life force most available to us, which brings the focus of the half-month rune into sharper focus for the present week. It suggests how we can handle these energies. The planetary stave (also a blind draw) indicates the state and needs of the planet, and where noted, of Nature, well beyond the earthly sphere.
If you're curious about how I do the cast every week, catch a couple of my Instagram videos, which explain the intention behind The Weekly Rune, and what makes it different from other ways of casting.

We can't seem to get away from the Perthro-Ehwaz reversed combination. Last week it visited under a message of lacking momentum, and this week... Well, let's see.
Algiz in its season brings a time of standing our ground firmly, and the elements rallying to support us in doing so. It's a good time to come into feeling what standing in our power is like. Literally, practice it this week. This stave embodies the strength and protection of our Home Spirits, such that when we truly merge (shapeshift) into them, they are with us everywhere we go. This is Nature as it should be.
Call in the relationship to the home space, this week. Make it the focus of personal tasks and exploration, and solidify those connections.
As it was the half-month rune last week, Perthro continues to visit with an inspired message of possibility. While modern interpretations focus on "luck" with this rune, a more culturally traditional take might be "chance." In the modern context we often are all-in when it comes to luck. We think it's with us or against us. We think we have total control or none. The gray area between is more accurate to the Old Norse concepts of wyrd and orlog. We have control to the point that we don't. We are at the whim of Nature, except for where we aren't. The emphasis for the Norse, though, wasn't on the extremes. It was on working with the forces of which we can impact, and letting go of the rest.

Ehwas is generally focused on building the momentum for a big expression of energy. Think the elements that must be in place for the lightning to strike. We always focus on the strike, because it's the most expressive observation of the phenomenon. We do the same thing with life, spirituality, etc. We emphasize the explosions of life force, because they engage us. They dazzle us. However, if we really want to claim status, let alone wisdom, in our own creation/manifestation processes, we must pay attention to the elements that build our outcomes. Awareness can't be only on the results.
This is the memo of Ehwaz reversed. Slow down. Observe how the pace has gone thus far; tweak it where necessary. Such is the function of all of Nature. It knows when to slow down, when to press forward, and how to set up the process for the best outcome.
