Why I am joining Occupy Boston

Most anyone reading this probably knows me as a writer. I love writing – and I'm thrilled to be on the brink of a new contract. But what you may not know is that writing does not pay my bills. In order to hold up my end of the household, I do contract editing and writing for a variety of clients. One of the biggest is my reason for joining Occupy Boston today.It started two weeks ago, but it

Sandie Herron I guess I'm ignorant when it comes too some of these organizations but I'll ask anyway - What is Occupy Boston?

Clea Simon It's a protest, part of the Occupy Wall Street movement, calling for change -- basically saying that there's too much emphasis on the rights of corporations and millionaires and that the vast majority of the country is being ignored. Its a very unorganized general protest, but basically liberal and calling for millionaires and large corporations to pay more to stop the cutbacks of benefits and layoffs.

Sandie Herron Sounds like there should be an Occupy the US group as well. Or Congress or the White House or well, I could go on and on. Sounds like a really good idea to me.

Clea Simon Thanks - there are a lot of these movements springing up. I just saw a Facebook posting about Occupy Memphis that pointed out that since the Walmart CEO manages to survive on $16,000/hour, he couldn't be expected to pay his employees more than $8.75/hr.
