What it is all about!
Well I am a new author with one book in my name so I am in no way in position to tell How you should write a book......But still I can tell you few things to watch out:
Idea Vs Story :
So you have an Idea and trust me you have an ending. This is what you have when the idea first pops up. A decent start and a great end. In your mind the book is a best seller... Unfortunately, it is a huge journey from start to end.... In other words, the idea is always pre-mature. So always need to focus on FLOW, that would eventually make start meet with the end.
Focus :
When we write five to ten pages, lot of things start going in the mind... Like Publishers, advertising, marketing, Royalty.... Its all about Money.... Took some time to realize, I am spending more time on these stuff than actually writing a book. So sit back, relax and first complete what you have started. Only once you have completed, start focusing on other stuffs.
Patience:
I can tell you, I was a bachelor when i started the book. I had a kid by the time book got published. 5 Years.... Many may take less time, but still it takes time.... It does not happen fortnight.. So do not be demotivated if it is taking long time, it does... for (almost) everybody. I did see few articles where writers complete book in just 6 months, but they are selected few.
Facing Rejections:
This is where reality kicks in. You have written a great piece...For you it is a best seller. So you send the scripts out to few publishers and wait for their response... BAM! It is rejected by almost all.
Lets Face it! Very few new authors have their work selected in first go. But this does not mean that you loose hope. Revisit your piece, search for scope of improvement. Improve it and try again :)
