What's an E-Book?
What's an e-book? How do I get one? How do I read one?
If you're asking yourself these questions, you're not alone. I've gotten these a lot since I announced the upcoming release of Venture Untamed, and it wasn't long ago that I had similar questions myself.
An e-book is a book in the form of an electronic file. Like other files, e-books come in different formats, which you can read on an electronic device that has the right application installed on it. An e-reader is a device made specifically for reading e-books. Popular brands of e-readers are Amazon's Kindle and Barnes and Noble's NOOK.
BUT—You don't need an e-reader to read most e-books. You can read them on your Mac, your PC, or your smart phone. Pretty cool, huh?
You be able to buy my e-books through Amazon.com, Amazon UK, and Amazon DE, as well as BarnesandNoble.com and through i-books. When you purchase an e-book through these online stores, it will download instantly onto your computer or e-reader.
If you don't have an e-reader, you'll be told that you need to download a free app to read the book.
For example, you can get Amazon Kindle for your Mac, for your PC, or for your smart phone. Then you can read any Kindle book you buy without buying a Kindle e-reader. Here's the Amazon page where you can find these free apps and learn more about how easy it is to read Kindle eBooks without a Kindle. Browse the Kindle Store on the Amazon site to find more e-books. Amazon calls its e-books Kindle eBooks, and they are in a different format than other e-books.
Barnes and Noble calls its e-books NOOK Books, and you can get apps to read books that are in that format right here.
