Good post. I don't think you need to get rid of all the commas and apostrophes in your new book. You said your character can't read or write so he's not writing it, though pronunciation, grammar and tense would be affected.

Nicely done, Will! Already I can relate to Jack Archer. It's good to develop characters who, although ignorant, have deep integrity and stand-up character. Our society needs reminders that the high-falutin' ain't always or necessarily the be-all and end-all. For most of us, our origins are with the hoi-polloi. (And proud of it!)Abraham Lincoln once said that God must love the common man, for why else would He have made so many of them?
