Orson Scott Card: Characters and Viewpoint

Dear Orson Scott Card,

A fellow writer recommended this book to me, and I must say I'm thankful. You give specific and detailed advice on how to make a character credible, memorable and whole, and how to make readers care about them. You also dedicate a chapter to the difference between major and minor characters., and one to the relative importance of milieu, ideas, characters and events in different kinds of story. But the most important and interesting for me was the part about plot twists and backstories: How to avoid clichés and make a story unexpected and believable at the same time.

Does this book help a beginner become a better writer? Definitely. Will it help me on my way to fame, fortune and the nobel prize? If it does, you'll hear.

Yours thankfully
C. Widmann
