I need a cool two-syllable word

Okay, here’s a random one for y’all.

I’m trying to name something for a story. It needs to be named with an English word, and for reasons of rhythm, that word has to be two syllables, with the accent on the first syllable. The thing in question is mystical, but don’t feel obliged to go for obviously mystical-sounding words; in fact, it’s probably better if I stay away from that (so no “shadow” or “dragon” or what have you). But it should be something that sounds cool — no “sofa” or “laundry” here.

Marie Brennan Thanks, everybody! It’s fascinating to see what people are coming up with, and it’s helping to knock me out of the mental ruts I’ve gotten stuck in.

Charlotte R.S. Gloam, muskeg, silence, lumen, tidal, saline, distal, sonar...

Though a funny one I saw in an old document recently is "spissy."

Marie Brennan I've never heard "spissy"! The OED tells me it means "dense, compact." I'll have to remember that . . .

John Marie, how about sylvan or slithy; perhaps use an alternate spelling for your chosen word, but with the same or similar pronunciation.
