GPS technology failed

What Lies Beneath Us Paperback by John M. Sheehan Along the way on a small country road searching out our GPS technology failed leaving us on this road not knowing what direction to go as we decided to continue our journey just to see whatever is before us in the world of the living traveling in time we found before us a place called Emery Chapel Cemetery founded in the 1860’s meeting a mysterious woman speaking of the beauty of the heart of this Cemetery as each person has been laid to rest only making a donation for that special plot of land as their flesh returns back to the ground it was created from.

Glory of glories as this blessed woman walks me down the path of the mysterious witching stick her father uses as keeper of the dead in locating unmarked graves and in locating sites for the resting of the future ones who fall asleep in time to awake in eternity.

Such wonders as I walk upon the hallowed ground of this cemetery, where a veil of silence hangs heavy in the air, Stopping to gaze at all the graves that have no headstones; a sight I've seen from cemetery to cemetery.

Such peacefulness as I see graves that are marked only with slabs, iron rocks, wooden stakes, pottery, sea shells, concrete blocks or bricks.

Some see graves that are only mounds of dirt with headstones of words with no meaning, yet for Shellie and I what “Lies Beneath Us” causes our hearts to wonder who lies sleeping sweetly in these humble graves that have been kissed by the sun, rain, and wind? Yes, whose memory time has now subdued, through the passing of the years. Yes, who lies here in sleep too deep for any dreams to go drifting by!

Yes, what “Lies Beneath Us” gives way to who lies here where their voices and cries are now forever hushed, and their earthly forms and cheerful faces will never again be seen on earth?

Yes, who lies here that is forever gone, but once their lives were so important to their loved ones? And yes, who lies here that has forever passed from this life on earth, but now has found their peace from grief, loneliness, pain, and tears, when they were here no more; for the shade of life has been pulled for them to the land of God's silent mystery?

Such a mystery from the essences of our spirit continues to ask on; who lies here so still in sleep that time has forgotten them, but is only waiting for the touch of God?

Could it be a man, woman, child, or a baby?
