Hello guys and welcome to my blog! My name is Lionel and I write fantasy novels. My first book called the Ocean Hearth is available on Amazon now (go and check it out!) So having shamelessly self promoting up there, I would like to share with you how I go about writing my books.I usually start with world building. Since I make fantasy stories, this include drawing fictional maps, creating kingdoms and races, their culture and common traits. Afterwards, I'll create characters who come from this culture. I'll design their behaviors and attitude based on how they were raised in that culture.Only then I start to write the plot of the story. In fantasy writing (or even just fiction writing in general!), it means learning how this character interact with their culture and environment. Kind of like letting the characters come to life!Once I find a few interactions that are interesting, I'll weave them up into one plot line that hopefully captivates me to elaborate it. And so I did! That's how I came up with The Ocean Hearth. I imagined a kingdom with a tyrant and then imagined who will be against him, which is Eli Rivergrove. Then I also have the nocturnal, blue skinned starbornes of Dalhar and out of it is a huntress named Laia. From there, I just mingled everyone with each other and thus, comes my first installment of the Hymns of Evermorn!I prefer writing it this way because I believe that's how real life works. Take your own life story for example. You and your behaviour are shaped by your surroundings. Your culture, your city, your family and so on. And then your story is basically how you use your behaviour traits to interact with your surroundings and the problems it presents. With that in mind, I feel like the story will be made more organically. So I hope you find this article insightful and helpful. If you liked it, be sure to subscribe to my blog! Also check out my book at the bookstore page! Thanks for taking time to read this post. Cheers!
