My first week of sales as a self-published author
My week consisted of marketing my book for about six hours a day. I intended to only spend two hours a day, but somehow whatever you do never seems enough!
So, nearly everyone I meet that knows I just published my first novel asks me how many sales I got. I think that I had a good week, but it was a lot of hard work.
The graph above shows sales for the novel Six Tinder Weeks only from launch date. These are kindle only. Everyone told me that Thursday was generally the best day for Kindle sales and I have to agree. I was jumping for joy with 47 sales on the first day, screaming on day two and then I thought the peak was over on day three. But by the time I woke up on Friday morning I was literally hallucinating!
Thursday was the day that I started my Adwords campaign and also the day that I went crazy on Twitter with my most posts. I think that a combination of both of these helped.
I started using Hootsuite again. I used to use that about ten years ago and it is a great way to track and schedule Tweets. I am missing writing though! With all of this marketing, I just haven't been able to write my quota this week. From Wednesday, I am going to leave the everyday marketing to Google, Amazon and Goodreads.
My first week of Kindle Sales in short
Approximately 700 pages read from Monday to Monday
Thursday was by far the most popular day
I managed to get two reviews one on Amazon USA and one on Amazon UK
Plus one more review on Goodreads. My Goodreads campaign starts tomorrow.
If you would like to buy Six Tinder Weeks (this link) will take you to a list of links to Amazon USA, UK or Germany.
DISCLAIMER!!
I am very new to publishing and my author friend just told me, what I thought were sales were actually pages read of the book! I will do another post next week with the true sales figures and sorry for the confusion!!!
