Now that Tess the Princess Dress has been released (as a Kindle ebook, so far), I am focusing on finishing up the next book in The Chronicles of the Clothes Mind series, Bella the Umbrella. Now some might be curious, why an umbrella next? “Aren’t umbrellas just accessories?” they might ask. And to them, I say, “They are absolutely not JUST accessories!”
I don’t follow any narrowminded rules when it comes to classifying an item “clothes” or “not clothes” because I believe any item worn or used for function and/or fashion can be considered clothing. A dress and shoes can be worn, of course. But a purse and jewelry can be worn, too. An umbrella’s job is to cover its owner and provide protection from the elements, the rain, and the wind. It can be a very businesslike black to go with a day job ensemble or, if you are so inclined, quite the opposite – a bright fashion statement. Whatever form an umbrella takes, please don’t look down on it because some people relegate it to apparel’s second-class citizenship!
