Two things that are new, some stories, and another novel
I've been head-down writing a new book for most of this year, so updates have been few and far between, especially these last few months. I'm pleased to have delivered the book in question, the direct sequel to Revenger, and hope to share a bit more news about it as we go through the usual editing cycle. Mr Reynolds im dissapointed to hear this. I read Revenger because it had your name on it but it was of severly inferior quality and impact to any of your other books on my shelf. I will not read a sequal to that rubbish. All your other stuff is awesome though. You write smart sci fi like nobody else and I'd LOVE to get more short stories.

I look forward to finding out what happened to Fura and Adrana afterwards, and where they went with the aliens controlling their currency. It was a fascinating world, and I would enjoy returning to it.

I was also very disappointed with Revenger, same as others I've got it because your name was on it but after reading all your books or at least all that I know about I feel like I know your style perfectly, so if you gave me Revenger without an author name I would have never believed that this was written by Alastair Reynolds and now it feels to me that you lend your name to a different author to help him start or something like that. Don't get me wrong, you are still my favorite author and Century Rain is still my favorite book I still cant wait for a new books by you, in the mean time I re listen to your books between others like right now I'm listening to your opposite twin Hamiltons Night Dawn trilogy ( the longest 3 books ever written ) and because of the length of each I take brakes ( something that I could never do when I listen to your books ) and listen to your beautiful universe, then I continue with your negative twin and I'll probably continue doing so with other books, finish one listen to one of yours an on.

As I lay in a hospital bed for the last 7 almost 8 months it got hard on my eyes reading, what I'm trying to say is that listening to your Space Operas are the best pain medication ever and for that I can never thank you enough!
I am also a big fan of Mr. Reynolds and I’ve read every single book he’s written. But Revenger is really awful. It was like a YA book, but not one of the good ones. While reading it, I seriously started researching whether it was written by another writer whose name is also AR. But no. And I’m very sad that a new book will be a sequel to that, I was hoping to get something in the league of Revelation Space or House of Suns. I’m a bit worried that the descent that started with the Poseidon series and continued with the Medusa thing and culminated in Revenger is not done yet..
I must say I really liked Revenger, although I'm well away from being a YA reader. I was not a big fan of Mr. Reynolds (for no special reason, I just have not come across too many of his books), but now I am. I have read the Poseidon and Medusa books, and I loved them. Maybe, lacking a set of expectations was good, and I approached those books with a neutral attitude.And of course, I love Treasure Island, and all other adventure classics (Verne, Salgari and similar) so even if it's not as complex as other works from Mr. Reynolds (if that's the objection of the two other readers above; that's my interpretation of their comments at least) I can't say that's a negative thing.
I don't mind some YA, but I wasn't a huge fan of Revenger. I think it had more to do with the perception many of the characters seemed nearly illiterate, yet were somehow plying space. I also don't think that's necessarily how light sails work. And the purpose of the baubles just seemed silly to me. Why would an advanced alien race do that? Oh, and the pirate-speak...ugh. Bones, baubles. Kind of not plausible science future, but more like fantasy and magic in space. BUT, I did say I would read the sequel, if one were to be written, and give it a chance. So I will give this one a chance.
