Turn Back Time…

Many identical clocks on poles in garden
Old Man holding pocket Watch looking bewildered wearing hat and jacket
Grand Central Clock on Wall in New York City
Spherical clock and calendar

Every year when we turn back our clocks, I get all bum-fuzzled. Do you?

I mean, I’m tired way before bedtime and I wake up feeling like I haven’t slept or worse yet, I wake up too early and really haven’t slept. Not like BEFORE the time change, I sleep well before the time change. Then, wham-o, change the clocks and I’m messed up for quite some time.

Furthermore, there’s always a clock or two that doesn’t get fixed in my house. I love my cell phone and my car that changes the clock automatically. Thank you inventions!! But, my analog and battery-operated clocks still depend on me to change them. The clock with hands, well, I’m afraid I’m going to break the hands so I just put off dealing with it because it means I have to turn it clockwise for 11 times to re-set it. And my analog clocks, well, I forget which buttons you have to hold down to change it. I inevitably hold down the buttons and it starts flashing and then I hit a button and it goes back to the time. I have to do it again and try not to hit the “wrong” button again and figure out which one is the right one to change the time! So frustrating! I leave those alone for awhile too.

But, what happens is I wake up at o’dark-thirty and I look at one of those clocks and have to do math in my head and tell myself it’s not 3AM, it’s 2AM. I’ve been drinking Starbucks coffee every morning (not my usual, I usually drink decaf) to try and wake up but then that messes with me being able to sleep. I’m in a bad cycle!

I really wish we didn’t change our clocks at all because my body and head just can’t handle it!

There were two brief years when I lived in Hawaii and we had no time change–that was wonderful! I need to go back there–for more reasons that one!

What about you? How do you feel about changing our clocks?

I feel the same way. I usually don't drink coffee but find myself drinking more and more each day. Need to get back in the habit of drinking my tea, Just don't want to get out of my warm, cozy bed. Fall is my favorite time of year minus the time change.

Wanda Luthman I know, in the fall and winter, I love warm drinks like coffee and tea. In the summer, I can't drink them at all because they just make me sweat. LOL I do drink iced tea and iced coffee in the summer.
