 those with dusty fatigues
 and their blue-draped
 brothers and sisters.
 The heart of our nation,
 your rabble and shout.
 Yet where are your words
 after the bugles go silent,
 after the cameras stop flashing,
 when your tool for show
 lies alone in a hospital bed
 or walks down a neighborhood
 they barely know?
 Our cops are fighting a subconscious war,
 tarted up like a holy whore
 by racist fallacy,
 giving breath to 
 drug policy
 more concerned with
