Regaining Power
Good Morning, Everyone! It's Friday! I hope this post finds all of you well.
This will be my second to last post for the week. After tomorrow's post I will be dropping down to weekly blog posts.
The topic for today's post is "Regaining Power". It is a short story I wrote initially for a competition. I didn't get it finished in time for the deadline so I decided to self-publish it instead. The topic of the contest was write something that happens in a dark room.
A basement came to mind when I read the parameters of the contest, and then my mind went one step darker. I automatically thought of a person being murdered in the basement and the murderer trying to cover up the evidence. The darkness went even further, and the idea came to mind to have it be a wife trying to free herself of an abusive relationship by killing her husband and trying to hide the body.
Claire Chritensen was a nurse who had been mentally and physically abused by her husband for three years. She could see no way out and decided to take matters into her own hands.
She decided that she would set everything up while he's at work and then torture him and show him the kind of pain he had put her through for three years.
The story was written as fiction and isn't a "how to" story. Domestic Violence is a very serious issue.
Here is the statistic page from The National Domestic Violence Hotline: http://www.thehotline.org/resources/s...
If you are a victim of or know someone who is a victim of Domestic Violence, the site has many avenues to get help. Do not stay silent on the issue. There are many deaths every year due to abusive relationships. The key is to speak out to someone, anyone. Do not remain silent or you or someone close to you may only be heard through a thundering memory.
